How We Make Money

We are paid an advertising fee by the roofing contractor we refer you to. You pay us nothing. That fee does not change your price and does not depend on what you spend.

That is the short version and there is no asterisk on it. The rest of this page is the long version, including the part where we tell you what our incentives are and what you should be suspicious of.

The money comes from the contractor

Eastern Oak Roofing LLC pays Charlotte Roofing Quote an advertising fee for the introduction when a homeowner asks to be contacted through this site. That is the revenue. There is no second revenue stream hiding behind it. We do not run display ads, we do not sell your information to data brokers, and we do not have an affiliate deal with a shingle manufacturer or a lender.

The fee is a flat amount per introduction, agreed in advance in a written contract. It is not a percentage of your project, it is not a commission on the sale, and it does not scale with the size of your roof.

You pay nothing

Not for the estimator, not for the cost guides, not for the introduction. There is no fee, no membership, no unlock, no deposit, and no upsell at the end of this. We will never ask you for a card, and if anything on this site ever asks you for payment information, it is not us and you should tell us about it.

The fee does not change your price

Two things are true here and we would rather state both than only the flattering one.

The first: the contractor sets their own prices. We have no seat at that table, no markup, no ability to add anything to their invoice, and no visibility into what they end up charging you. Nothing about your quote is different because you arrived through this site rather than a yard sign.

The second: advertising is an overhead cost for every contractor on earth, and overhead sits inside everybody's prices. A roofing company that spends money on trucks, insurance, a yard, and marketing is charging you for all of it in aggregate, and that has been true of every estimate you have ever received from anyone. What we can tell you specifically is that there is no per job surcharge attached to this referral, and that a homeowner who found the same contractor by driving past a yard sign is being quoted from the same sheet you are.

We get paid whether or not you hire anyone

This is the part with the most useful information in it. Our fee is earned at the introduction. Once a valid request reaches the contractor and they reach out, we have been paid. Whether you sign, whether you get a second opinion, whether you decide the roof has four more years in it and do nothing at all, our end of it is finished.

The good side of that arrangement is real: we have no financial reason to pressure you, to inflate the urgency, or to steer you toward a larger job. The awkward side is also real, and here it is.

What our bias actually is, and what to watch for

Every business has an incentive shape. Ours is volume of form submissions. We are rewarded when more people fill in the contact fields, and we are not rewarded for whether that turned out to be a good decision for you. Being paid at the introduction removes the pressure to close you, and it replaces it with a pressure to get you to submit. That is a real bias and pretending otherwise would be the exact behavior this page is supposed to make impossible.

So here is what to hold us to, and it applies to any site like this one, not just ours.

  • Watch for a cost range that is suspiciously narrow. Roofing prices are genuinely spread out. A tool that tells you your roof costs $11,412 is performing confidence it has not earned. Ours gives a wide band on purpose and shows the sources it came from.
  • Watch for manufactured urgency. Storm season countdowns, "prices increase next month", limited slots. Nothing on a cost research site should be trying to make you hurry.
  • Watch for a site that implies a bidding war it cannot deliver. Plenty of sites suggest you will be shopped across a field of companies while quietly routing every request to one paying advertiser. We send yours to one company, we say so before you submit, and we name it.
  • Watch for vetting language that is doing no work. "Rigorously screened network" usually means somebody paid an invoice. Our standard is published in full with instructions for checking it yourself, and if a claim on it is not something you can independently verify, treat it as marketing.
  • Watch for a site that reviews itself. We do not display a star rating for this site, because we do not have one. The rating you see on this site belongs to the contractor, is attributed to them, and is linked to the source with the date we checked it.
  • Notice what "the only vendor we accept" does and does not mean. It means one company currently clears the standard we publish. It is not a ranking of Charlotte roofing companies, we have not surveyed the market, and nobody bought a top spot, because there is no list to be at the top of. There are good Charlotte roofers who have never heard of us.

Things we will not do for money

  • We will not sell, rent, or syndicate your information to anyone other than the named contractor. No lead marketplaces, no solar, no gutters, no windows, no warranty companies.
  • We will not publish a testimonial from a homeowner who does not exist, and we will not write reviews for anybody. That is a federal rule with civil penalties attached, and it is also the fastest way to destroy the only thing this site has.
  • We will not present the contractor reviews as reviews of this site.
  • We will not put a number on this site that we cannot source, and every cost figure carries the date it was reviewed.
  • We will not accept a vendor who fails the standard because the fee is attractive. The standard exists so there is something to say no to.

How to keep us honest

  1. Get a second opinion from a roofer who has nothing to do with us. Genuinely. We are paid either way, so this costs us nothing and it protects you.
  2. Verify the contractor yourself. Business registration, reviews, insurance, warranty terms. Every item and how to check it.
  3. Check our math. The methodology page names the six sources and shows where they disagree with each other.
  4. Tell us when something is wrong. A stale figure, a dead link, a contractor who behaved badly. hello@charlotteroofingquote.com.

Advertising disclosure: Charlotte Roofing Quote, a d/b/a of BlackBelt AI Systems LLC is paid by the roofing contractor listed on this site when we refer a homeowner to them. This is a paid advertising and referral service. It is not an independent review, ranking, or comparison of all roofing contractors in this area.

Common questions

Nothing, at any stage. There is no fee, no membership, no deposit, and we will never ask you for a payment method.

Not as a line item, and not tied to your job. The contractor sets their own price and we have no ability to add anything to it. What is honest to say is that marketing is part of every contractor overhead, the same as their trucks and their insurance, so advertising in general is baked into what any roofing company charges.

No. The fee is a flat amount for the introduction. It has no percentage of your project in it, so a $9,000 roof and a $30,000 roof pay us the same. We have no financial reason to push you toward a bigger job.

No, and it would be against the law to imply that it is. We are paid by the contractor we send you to. We publish a standard, we say who currently clears it, and we show you how to check them yourself.
